Patterns & tutorials to help you crochet your next treasure

  • New tutorial video

Learn how to start your crochet project with an adjustable ring (also often called a magic ring, circle, or loop). This technique is especially useful when you’re crocheting in the round and you don’t want a hole in the center of your circle.

There are many variations of this technique, but this is my preferred method because it’s the only way I’ve found that truly stays closed. I also love how this particular method makes it easy to create the ring, secure it, and remove it from your fingers. In addition, this video provides tips on how to add tension to your ring so that it’s easier to work into and how to use this method with a variety of stitches. Whether you’re making a hat, toy, or granny square, I know this will become your favorite method too.

    Lacy Lavender Pullover

Introducing my latest design: the Lacy Lavender Pullover crochet pattern. This luxurious pullover boasts a mesmerizing floral lace design, creating a captivating geometric pattern that elevates any wardrobe. Despite its intricate appearance, this pullover is crafted in two pieces without any shaping. Both the front and back panels are worked from the bottom up then cleverly joined at the top of the sleeves and shoulders using a join-as-you-go technique. The finishing touches include sewing the bottom edge of the sleeves and sides for a polished look.

You can find the Lacy Lavender Pullover crochet pattern in the February 2024 issue of I Like Crochet, an online-only crochet magazine. The basic pattern is free, or you may subscribe to get the premium pattern, which includes a stitch chart and schematic.

  • multicolored blanket draped over a bed

    Favorite spring pattern

The famous Impressionist painter Claude Monet once said, “My finest masterpiece is my garden.” Taking inspiration from Monet’s beloved gardens, the Painter’s Garden Blanket combines vibrant colors and luscious textures in a painterly landscape you can curl up under.

This crochet project invites you to be the painter embarking on your next work of art. If this idea is a bit intimidating, that’s okay—the pattern as written uses a self-striping yarn that will do all the colorwork for you to produce the blanket shown here. If the idea of painting a blanket ignites your creativity, feel free to run with it! Here are some ideas to get you started:

Choose a self-striping yarn in one color for the motifs and another color for the sections in between. Or crochet multicolored motifs with a new color in each round and use a solid color for the granny stitch sections. This blanket also makes for a wonderful scrap yarn project. Let your imagination be your guide!

This intermediate-level project will keep you entertained with a variety of stitches, including puffs, popcorns, spike stitches, and granny stitches. Square- and triangle-shaped floral motifs are joined as you go. Granny stitch sections are worked outward from the motif panels.
