Tiffany Windows Light Scarf
crochet pattern | $5.00 USD
This super-fine weight version of the original Tiffany Windows scarf requires just 100g (approx. 440 yards) of sock yarn, making it a great single skein project.
The decorative details of the Art Nouveau movement, particularly the leaded glass windows of Louis Comfort Tiffany, inspired this design. Here, organic shapes and geometric lines combine to form this delicate and graceful accessory. Whether worn with a suit jacket or dress, this striking lace scarf is sure to leave an impression.
How This Scarf Is Made
Though it might look to be made of joined motifs, this scarf is actually crocheted in one piece in the round. Working outward from both sides of a foundation chain, a variety of strategically placed tall stitches, chain loops, and shells combine to form motif-like square panels. Finally, an exquisite border is added made with simple mesh and elegant picot-adorned shells and fans.
Using a wide variety of stitches in an uncommon construction, this is an entertaining project for the intermediate crocheter. It’s also an excellent way to showcase a beautiful hand-dyed yarn.

Super Fine (CYC #1) Weight Yarn
420 - 440 yards (384 - 402 m)
The sample shown here was made with a C/2/2.75mm crochet hook and Malabrigo Sock super fine (fingering) weight wool (440 yds/402m; 3.5 oz/100g per hank) in the color #133 Reflecting Pool. The project required 1 hank of this yarn.
Yarn Note: Hand-dyed yarns like Malabrigo have subtle shifts in color that may vary between hanks. When using hand-dyed yarn in your project, work two rounds from one hank and two rounds from another to give an overall blended effect.
Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with fingering-weight wool, but feel free to substitute the fingering-weight yarn of your choice. Cotton, linen, and natural fiber blends would all be good options. Using lighter or heavier weight yarns is not recommended. If you would like to make this scarf with medium (worsted) weight yarn, be sure to check out the original Tiffany Windows pattern.
