How This Blanket Is Made

The My Little Nest Blanket is worked in rows from the bottom up. After completing the lower border, you’ll continue with a simple two-row stitch pattern to create the center panel. A matching upper border finishes the design.

The textured puff V-stitch border is built directly into the blanket as you crochet, framing the smooth double crochet center without requiring any separate edging or finishing rounds. Because the border and center panel are worked at the same time, you can enjoy watching the design take shape from the very first rows.

Once established, the stitch pattern becomes easy to work from memory, making this an enjoyable project for relaxed crochet sessions.

The light blue sample shown here is the Lovey size (12 x 12 in; 30 x 30 cm) and was made with an H/8/5mm crochet hook and Lion Brand Basic Stitch™ Anti Pilling™ medium (Aran) weight acrylic yarn (185 yds/170 m; 3.53 oz/100 g per skein) in the color #105U Frost. The sample required 1 skein of this yarn.

The mustard yellow sample shown here is the Cradle size (18 x 32 in; 46 x 81 cm) and was made with an H/8/5mm crochet hook and Premier Yarns Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted medium (Aran) weight acrylic yarn (180 yds/165 m; 3.5 oz/100 g per skein) in the color #100-28 Mustard. The sample required 3 skeins of this yarn.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with medium-weight acrylic, but feel free to substitute the medium-weight yarn of your choice. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may also be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements. Working a gauge swatch with your chosen yarn is recommended before beginning (gauge swatch instructions included in pattern).
