First Bloom Blanket
crochet pattern | $5.00 USD
Worked in the round, this crochet blanket features elegant lace stitches that evoke the gentle awakening of spring. A delicate eyelet pattern, created with fans and simple decreases, forms a soft backdrop, while bands of flowers made with clusters add a decorative touch. Choose from seven sizes—from a lovey to a blanket large enough for a queen-sized bed. Each size is thoughtfully designed to end with a floral border, so no matter which size you choose, the result will be beautiful.
This is a mindful make with simple, repetitive stitches—engaging enough to hold your attention, but soothing enough for relaxed stitching. It’s the perfect companion for quiet mornings and a warm cup of your favorite brew.
How This Blanket Is Made
This blanket is worked in one piece in the round. Each size includes two stitch patterns: an eyelet stitch and a floral band. The eyelet stitch uses fans and simple decreases to create a lacy design. This 2-row repeat is worked 3 times for a staggered placement across the fabric. Flowers made with 3-double crochet clusters flanked by left clusters create the delicate floral bands. The two stitch patterns are repeated until the desired size is reached.
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with medium-weight acrylic, but feel free to substitute the medium-weight yarn of your choice. Wool and cotton would also be good options. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may also be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements.

Gauge
Though exact gauge is not essential, for best appearance it should be close.
