Diagonal Shells Wrap

crochet pattern | $5.00 USD

With polished simplicity, this airy and elegant wrap is as beautiful as it is versatile. Wear it from the beach to dinner to an evening stroll on the boardwalk.

Inspired by ocean waves nearing the shore, the Diagonal Shells Wrap features a yarn with a slow color change from deep sea green to aqua to misty light blue.

How This Wrap Is Made

This wrap is worked lengthwise from the bottom up. The shell stitch pattern in diagonal lines is entertaining and easy to memorize, and it’s always fun to watch the colors change as you work. Best of all, the fabric is reversible!

This project can be completed with just one Scheepjes Whirl yarn cake. (Only two ends to weave in!)

Pattern is written in US crochet terms.

Finished Measurements (approximate size after blocking)
54 inches wide x 20 inches long

Super Fine (CYC #1) Weight Yarn
1000 - 1094 yards (914 - 1000 m)

The sample shown here was made with an E/4/3.5mm crochet hook and Scheepjes Whirl super fine (fingering) weight cotton/acrylic yarn (8 oz /1094 yds/215g per cake) in the color #781 Sea Breeze Tease. The project required 1 cake of this yarn.

Wrap width and length may be adjusted to suit your needs.
Width is adjustable by multiples of 8 stitches and length by working more or fewer 4-row repeats.
Be sure to buy additional yarn if you plan to increase the size of your wrap.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with super-fine (fingering) weight wool, but feel free to substitute the fingering-weight yarn of your choice. Because results may vary, crocheting a gauge swatch with your alternative yarn is recommended.

Gauge
19 sts and 11 rows = 4 inches
Though exact gauge is not essential, for best appearance it should be close.
I used an E/4/3.5mm crochet hook. Select the hook size that gives the best appearance for your choice of yarn and your tension.
A significantly different gauge may require more or less yarn than listed.
