How This Blanket Is Made
The blanket is made with a unique butterfly motif. Strategically placed front and back post stitches define the butterfly shape. To help you determine where to work each stitch, tips and photos are presented alongside the pattern instructions. A stitch chart, photo tutorial, and detailed video tutorial are also provided to help you along.
When these trapezoidal motifs are arranged, the butterflies appear to dance in pairs. Rows of motifs are joined into strips with single crochet. The strips are then joined together with single crochet stitching. Finally, choose from 4 border options to add a beautiful finishing touch to your blanket.
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.

Although the pattern does not include instructions for customizing the size of your blanket, you may do so by making more or fewer motifs and joining them to create a larger or smaller rectangle. The main border instructions will work for any blanket size. A second border includes 4 options to choose from — the one you choose may depend on the number of stitches on each side in the last round of your blanket’s main border.
• The Scalloped Border can be used with a multiple of 6 plus 3 stitches.
• The Braided Border can be used with any number of stitches.
• The Lace Border can be used with a multiple of 2 plus 1 stitches.
• The Picot Border can be used with a multiple of 2 plus 1 stitches.
To help you customize your blanket, the pattern also includes a breakdown of yardage needed for each color in the motif.
Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with a fine-weight cotton and acrylic blend, but feel free to substitute the fine-weight yarn of your choice. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may also be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements.
Additional Tools and Materials

Gauge
Though exact gauge is not essential, for best appearance it should be close.
I used a D/3/3.25mm crochet hook. Select the hook size that gives the best appearance for your choice of yarn and your tension.
A significantly different gauge may require more or less yarn than listed.
