Echo from the Top of the Mountain Shawl

crochet pattern | $5.00 USD

Contrasting stripes add a dramatic touch to this variation of the “On Top of the Mountain Shawl.” The “Echo from the Top” triangle shawl features an interesting color-block wing with unevenly spaced stripes that enhance the asymmetrical colorwork. Whether worn around the neck or over the shoulders, this shawl is a lot of fun to style!

How This Shawl Is Made

The construction of this shawl involves simple stitches and relatively uncomplicated shaping, making it a great pattern for an adventurous beginner. With increases at the center of every third row, the shawl begins with a diamond-shaped main panel. This center panel is quick and easy to crochet, and the pattern is easy to memorize. After the center panel is complete, you will work one wing at a time, decreasing along the top edge to create a triangle. These wings require a little more concentration. The pattern includes crochet stitch charts for the main panel and wings, as well as a Color Sequence Chart & Checklist to help you keep track of color changes as you go.

Pattern includes a Row Tracker Chart to help you keep track of the pattern repeats as you go. Just add a check mark in the Done column when you’ve completed the sequence listed. When you put the project down for a bit, this will also help you to know where you left off when you pick it back up again.

Pattern is written in US crochet terms.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes

Gauge
29 sts = 4 inches (10 cm); 16 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) (blocked)
Though exact gauge is not essential, for best appearance it should be close.

A significantly different gauge may require more or less yarn than listed.
