Many beaded crochet projects require you to string dozens (or even hundreds) of beads onto your yarn before you begin, which can be messy, time-consuming, and tough on delicate yarns. Not this one. With the add-a-bead-as-you-go method, you add each bead right as you need it, using a small steel crochet hook to pull the yarn through the bead. That means: No tangles from pre-strung beads, No guessing how many you’ll need in advance, and No risk of abrading your yarn by sliding beads along its length.
It’s a solution that’s as practical as it is pretty! How to Crochet This Edging Using the Add-a-Bead-As-You-Go Method This edging is worked with just two simple stitches: a chain and a beaded slip stitch. It’s beginner-friendly and easy to memorize, making it ideal for relaxing, meditative stitching. Here’s a quick overview of the process: With the hook you used for your project, chain 4 (you can adjust the number of chains to suit your project). Use a steel crochet hook to pick up a bead. Pull the loop of your working yarn through the bead. Remove the smaller hook, and return the loop to your regular crochet hook. Skip the next 3 stitches and work a slip stitch in the next stitch or space. Repeat!
